Microsoft Shows Off Surface Pro Tablet
Microsoft may be absent in this year’s CES, but that does not mean the company would not make its presence felt in Las Vegas. Panos Panay, Microsoft’s general manager for Surface products, has been holding meetings in the Sin City with members of the press. With him is his company’s upcoming device–a Surface tablet that runs on Windows 8 Pro.
The tablet, dubbed as Microsoft Surface Pro, is a step up from the Surface RT when it comes to screen clarity with the resolution tipping in at HD-quality 1080p. So while the Pro has the same 10.6-inch screen, it has more pixel density.
Other than the resolution, the specs within the Surface Pro are mostly the same from the ClearType screen to pen (and eraser) support. It has the same magnesium VaporMg casing and the same kickstand.
If there are stark differences with the Surface Pro compared to its predecessor, it would have to be how bulkier it has become. The Pro is 13.5mm thick and weighs around 2 pounds. This tablet also comes with a Core i5 processor, two fans, and a 42.5Wh battery.
Panay stopped short into telling tech journalists how much it costs, as well as when Microsoft would ship the Surface Pro tablet to buyers.
