Nifty MiniDrive for Macbooks

Any MacBook user understands the hassle of adding storage space into their Apple-made laptops. There are various options to do so, such as expensive and inconvenient-to-carry-around external hard drives or inserting an SD card. However, the media card sticks out by one centimeter when fully inserted, so users cannot put it in all the time.

One company looked for a solution to this and came up with the Nifty MiniDrive, a memory device that fits just right in your MacBook’s SD slot, making it seem like a part of the laptop itself. Apart from providing added memory, it also works as a set-it-and-forget-it backup solution. The MiniDrive is made out of a combination of high-grade aluminum and plastic and comes with a slot for your microSD card (up to 2TB), which is not included in purchasing for the MiniDrive.

This mini drive is very helpful as a backup solution. You can simply retrieve the Nifty MiniDrive, and all the data saved in it, in case your MacBook is damaged. Removing the MiniDrive requires some amount of skill: by sticking a paperclip (bent into a little hook) through the MiniDrive’s eyelet and pulling it out.

The Nifty MiniDrive comes in three version: one that works for MacBook Air, another for the MacBook Pro, and the mini drive for your Retina-equipped MacBook Pro. The project was successfully funded on Kickstarter by almost 3500% of its original goal and all its stock has been sold out as of this posting. If still interested in purchasing your very own MiniDrive, you can subscribe to their mailing list for updates.
